Our Village is the perfect base to start exploring the region. Start by walking down to Falls Road and checking out St Stephens church, with the first stone laid in 1913, not much else is known about the history of this church but we are sure there would be plenty to tell.
From the church, head by foot (or car) to Serpentine Falls, approximately 2km down the road. Once you’ve arrived, you can decide whether to admire the Falls and get as many insta-worthy pics as possible, or tackle one of the walk trails. Maybe you could have a privately guided hike through the National Park with Off The Beaten Track WA? There are half day, full day or twilight hikes, and you get picked up and dropped off from the Park!
HOT TIP: Be sure to get to the Falls early, because once the National Park is full, it can be closed for the remainder of the day.
Head by car to Bodhinyana Buddhist Monastery to share a meal with the monks for the Daily Offering at 10.30am. Here you can absorb the serenity of the 242 hectare property, take part in a short blessing and have an informal chat to the monks after the meal.
Starting to feel peckish? Head to Jarrahdale Tavern to feed the tribe. Or for something really special, book into Millbrook Winery for a culinary delight. (Booking ahead is essential, ask us about a 10% discount available for guests) While in Jarrahdale, check out the Old Post Office, Necessiteas and if you haven’t already, definitely stop into the stunning Millbrook Winery and admire the vineyard and indulge in a tasting or two…
Last but not least before you run out of sunlight, you simply must head to the Serpentine Dam. This dam was completed in 1961 and is one of the largest water supplies to the Metro area still today. You can stop into the Café on the Dam, or enjoy the relaxing picnic areas. You might lucky to see some kangaroos, but you will certainly see some birds – see how many different species you can spot?
Fantastic little getaway location only one hour from Perth. Clean and tidy campsite with immaculate facilities. The kids loved the pool and open spaces to run around. Management made us feel so welcome and were very accommodating when one of our party’s tent broke on the first night. Serpentine Falls is only a short distance away and there are plenty of walking trails near by. If you are looking for a quick getaway for the weekend, I would highly recommend this spot.
We booked in for 4 nights with our caravan and ended up staying an extra 2 nights. Great park, good size sites nice grassed area. Amenities very clean and nice camp kitchen although had to pay to operate hotplates and bar-b-ques (most places these are free). Lovely helpful staff and a good place to base ourselves to see Freemantle and Perth and surrounding area. The falls are beautiful very worth a visit.
Great little park with fantastic caretakers and exceptionally clean amenities. We have felt welcome and loved our Easter stay. Thank you and we’ll be back.
